STUCCO

HARD COAT STUCCO REPAIR OR STUCCO OVER BLOCK:

  1.  SCRAPE CONCRETE BLOCK WITH WIRE BRUSH TO REMOVE ANY LOOSE DIRT OR PAINT.  IF WIRE IS EXPOSED, USE A SCRATCH COAT AS A BASE.
  2. APPLY LIQUID CONCRETE BONDING ADHESIVE TO WORK AREA. THIS ADHESIVE WORKS EVEN WHEN ITíS DRY.
  3. MIX PORTLAND CEMENT & SILICA SAND IN EQUAL PARTS WITH WATER TO THE CONSISTENCY OF HEAVY PASTE. 1/2 GAL. OF WATER WILL TAKE ABOUT 4 - 2LB. COFFEE CANS EACH OF CEMENT & SAND.
    CAUTION
    :
DONíT MIX MORE STUCCO THAN YOU CAN USE IN AN HOUR AND STIR IT EVERY 10 MINUTES OR SO TO KEEP IT FROM SETTING UP.  NOTE: PROTECT GROUND, SHRUBS AND ANYTHING ELSE IN WORK AREA. THE STUCCO MIXTURE WILL SPLASH WHILE BEING MADE UP AND ITíS MESSY TO CLEAN.
  4. USE CEMENT TROWEL TO APPLY ABOUT A 1/4" THICK COAT OF STUCCO AND SMOOTH WITH A RUBBER FLOAT. NOTE: IF FLOAT HAPPENS TO PULL OUT SOME STUCCO, NO PROBLEM, JUST PLUG IT AND CONTINUE.
    CAUTION
    :
WORK WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BETWEEN 60- & 80-DEGREES F. AND ITíS NOT TOO DAMP. IF ITíS TOO HOT, STUCCO WILL DRY TOO QUICKLY AND CRACK.  IF ITíS TOO DAMP, STUCCO WONíT DRY.  NOTE: IF CRACKING DOES OCCUR, MIX THIN SLURRY OF PORTLAND CEMENT & WATER AND BRUSH OVER ENTIRE SURFACE. SLURRY MOISTENS SURFACE AND FILLS CRACKS.
  5. STUCCO MUST BE COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE PAINTING WHICH TAKES AT LEAST 3 DAYS DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER. A GOOD LATEX PAINT WILL DO AS A FINISH COAT.  YOU MAY WISH TO ADD EMULSABOND MADE BY THE FLOOD COMPANY.  THORO COAT IS AN EXCELLENT STUCCO COATING.
